Mr. Sabareesh G.R's M. Tech. thesis titled "Effect of Corner Radius on Aeroelastic Instabilities of Square section Cylinders" was given the Best M.Tech Thesis Award by Indian Society for Wind Engineering (ISWE) for the year 2007-08 Mr.Arjun Menon, Mr.Abhinav.R, and Mr.Sanju Sajan from second year got first prize for "Aero Design and Fabrication" in the SAE national convention 2009. Mr. Prasant Goel from third year secured 100% marks in the examination conducted by Certified Solid Works Associate (CSWA) in 2009.
Association of Mechanical Engineers
The Association of Mechanical Engineers caters to all the departmental needs of the mechanical engineering students, ranging from organizing intra departmental competitions, seminars on important issues by eminent industrial personalities, facilitating factory visits to various companies etc. The year started with a grand inauguration of the club. The chief guest Mr. Rengarajan from Robert Bosch, Bangalore, presided over the event. He presented a very informative seminar on "Recent trends in the automotive electronics ". The induction of the second year students into the club was conducted , an interesting video on the making of Mercedes Cars was filmed along with some fun filled events such as automotive quiz and junk yard wars to mention a few. The events planned for the rest of the year will be the much awaited event WHEELS '10 which is an inter departmental competition. The events such as design competitions, treasure hunt etc will be held over a week's time. Apart from this we also intend to conduct the farewell for the final year students.
