Resources at Aerospace Engineering,Coimbatore Campus
When fully assembled, the MiG-23 aircraft, will be an attraction for all interested in the Aerospace Engineering Department at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Campus at Ettimadai.
With a majority of its subsystems in place, this fighter aircraft is an excellent educational model for students to study and lay hands on a real-life aircraft and its subsystems - a unique first hand experience. The purpose of acquiring this aircraft is purely educational and for demonstrating to the students the role, function and working of various subsystems of the aircraft, and will be a part of the Aircraft Design Laboratory.
In addition, the Aerospace Engineering Department will have the following Laboratories.
- Aerodynamics Laboratory : It is being equipped by
- A low speed wind tunnel (upto 50m/s), and
- A desk top water tunnel.
- Aerospace Structures Laboratory
- Propulsion Laboratory : This lab is being equipped by an Avon Engine and will be used mainly for demonstration to undergraduates.
- Flight Dynamics and Control Lab.
With associated accessories and instrumentation, this laboratory would be used for undergraduate laboratory experiments and also for research in flow visualization studies
