About the Department
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) was founded in 2002, with the goal to prepare students for industry, research and teaching careers and in 2004 was brought under the auspices of Amrita Vishwa Vidya Peetham Head Quarters at Ettimadai, Coimbatore.
The first class of 90 students graduated from AVVU in 2008, and many have joined reputed national and international software companies. A small number of recent graduates are pursuing higher studies in U.S. universities.
The Department offers B.Tech programs in Computer Science and Engineering as well as a M.Tech degree programme in Embedded Systems and Computer Science and Engineering.
The Department has well-equipped laboratories and laboratory facilities available to students with 24 hour service as well as a library furnished with reference books and other research materials. An exclusive internet facility supported by 10 Mbps link is made available to all students.
The academic strength of the Department lies in the dedicated faculty and supporting staff. In addition to an experienced teaching faculty, the Department has a skilled laboratory staff and administrative staff. The Department is also supported by the industrial and research experience of distinguished faculty.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru has set up a Software Engineering Research Lab. Current focus in research include the following areas: Software Engineering, Computer Vision & Robotics, Modeling and Simulation, Embedded Systems, Image Processing, Mobile Networks, Information Security, Computer Architecture, Multicore Computing, Distributed Systems, Computational Intelligence and Multi Agent Systems.
