Award Winning Student Projects
In August 2009, Amrita students made big news when their Chakshuyaan project won the first-prize at Tech-Top, beating over 200 teams in this national contest. They brought home a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh! See News »
This vehicle-with-eyes won them a second time, when they were awarded the second prize at the National Innovation Fair at IIT Delhi. Several hundred student projects were showcased at this fair that was organized by DST and CII.
Engineering students from ECE, EEE and Mech were joined by BBM students in this interdisciplinary venture to build an unmanned vertical take-off vehicle. When it actually flew, it was the culmination of two years of hard work by the students.
Engineering students at the Amritapuri campus are encouraged to work on such projects. They are given much support, both in the form of faculty guidance as well as funding for projects that qualify. This encouragement has led to a spurt of innovative pursuits on campus.
On-the-go-Braille was built by a team of EEE students using LabView. The students learned the software and made the appliance on hardware loaned by National Instruments. Their project was short-listed among the top five projects in Ni-Yantra, a national-level competition. See News»
Computer science students built an Online Crime Reporting System on the J2EE platform. This project was adjudged the best project in Kerala and the sixth best in the nation, beating nearly 15000 teams from all over India. See News »
